From barriers to bridges . . .the journey to cultural competence for healthcare professionals
The purpose of the program is to increase the participant's knowledge of the cultural and health care beliefs of diverse populations. This will be accomplished through identification of one's own cultural beliefs and biases, review of cultural considerations in health care delivery and strategies for providing competent, sensitive care.  Improved patient outcomes and staff satisfaction result.
Benefits & Challenges of a Culturally Diverse Staff

The purpose of the program is to increase an awareness of the benefits and challenges of working with a culturally diverse staff. Understanding

the cultural beliefs and values, communication styles and approaches to decision making and conflict resolution of fellow staff members promotes  a team approach and respect for individual's contributions and talents.

Culturally competent students . . . Health Occupational Faculty
This seminar increases Health Occupation Faculty's knowledge of the cultural health beliefs and values of various ethnic groups, and provides proven teaching strategies that will ensure academic achievement in the classroom & cultural competence in the clincal setting.   When a welcoming & respectful environment is created in the classroom & clinical setting, cultural self esteem, cultural competence and improved patient outcomes follow!
